Martin-Philippe Tremblay is a Canadian filmmaker living in Toronto. Over the years, MP has successfully worked on TV commercials as well as TV shows, fiction projects, and music videos. A great admirer of the 80's-90's Spielberg era, his work is mostly aimed at younger audiences and he prioritizes family-oriented productions. Early on in his career, Martin-Philippe Tremblay directs more than 50 music videos that are aired on Musique Plus and Much Music. Many win top positions in the daily charts. At age 21, he directs The black fly, his first independent (self-produced, self-financed) short film lasting 23 minutes. The movie deals with racism and intolerance in American society. The film is bought by TV5Monde (the gigantic French European TV channel) and is broadcast in French countries all around the world (Europe, Africa, North America). The film also has a great festival life. In 2007, Martin-Philippe is chosen into the very selective director's program, at I.N.I.S., (one of Canada's top filmmaking school). Being a student at I.N.I.S. allows him to direct four short films, including Janitor romance, which earned him the viewer's choice prize and a scholarship from Ciné-Québec an organization that involves all the producers' association from the province of Quebec. In the same year, he directs three short films within the TV show Make it short! (a TV show that resembles the American TV show called "On the lot" where young creators are put in a creative contest, one against the other, and asked to make the best movie possible). His second short film, All life long received, among others, the award for best film, best screenplay, and best actors. The film was selected for several festivals and traveled around the world. Particularly in France for the Off-court festival in Trouville and in Clermont-Ferrand. Tremblay has directed dozens of TV commercials with clients such as the Government of Canada, H & R Block, Maple Leaf, Aldo, Debbie Travis, Capital One, S.T.M, Ubisoft, Ministry of education, Suzuki, Maxi, Endemol. In 2014, he shares the directing duties on the world-famous TV show Fort Boyard. The show is nominated for the best TV-realty show at the Gemeaux (2015). The same year, Tremblay starts a 4 years professional venture with the TVO - TFO Youth TV channel. He directs hundreds of comedic skits produced for a young audience. The show is a success with more than 15 million views on YouTube alone. His work on the show awards him many prizes and nominations (both a W3 and Communicator awards) and a nomination at the Youth Media Alliance.
