Erkki Tamila

Long distance runner Eerik Jaakko "Erkki" Tamila was born on May 5, 1911 in Nummi, Finland. Tamila placed fourth in the men's marathon at the 1936 Olympics that were held in Berlin, Germany. In the wake of participating in the 1936 Olympics Erkki went on to win the Stockholm Half Marathon in Stockholm, Sweden three consecutive years in a row. Tamila died at age 92 on February 25, 2004 in Kauniainen, Finland.
