James Anthony Young

James Anthony Young was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He graduated from York University with a BFA Honours in Film Production in 2012 and currently lives and works in Toronto and Hamilton. Founding Spiderclown Studios in 2011 with Nik Benn, he has spent the last ten years working professionally from preproduction to post in the Toronto film industry with a myriad of companies such as Weber Shandwick, John St, Breakthrough Media and Vortex Words + Pictures. James has built a reputation as a jack-of-all-trades who has extensive expertise in producing, directing and visual effects supervision. He is able to see the big picture quickly and work closely with his crew & cast in order to make exciting projects come to life. In 2017, James co-created the television series Bedtime Stories for Men on which he also produced and was a director on the series' first season. In 2018, James was the VFX Supervisor for Breakthrough Media's and Black Fawn Films critically acclaimed feature film, I'll Take Your Dead, as well as the the Assistant Production Manager on Vortex's A Perfect Plan, starring William Forsythe, and co-created, produced and directed the Image Killer experimental digital series. In 2019, James was the Assistant Production Manager on Vortex's upcoming Don't Click and a co-creator and producer for the Amortal digital series.
