Felipe Vara de Rey is a Madrid-born, Brooklyn-based cinematographer and director. After obtaining a degree in political science in 2002, he worked for a few years doing social research, but soon shifted gears and went on to graduate in cinematography from Madrid's Film Institute. He also attended an International Workshop on feature screenwriting at EICTV, in San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba). Thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship, Felipe moved to NYC in 2011 to pursue NYU's Graduate Film program, where now - after graduating in 2016 - he also serves as an adjunct professor of cinematography. Felipe's body of work, both as a cinematographer and a director, includes commercials, music videos and art films; however, he's recently been focusing on narrative projects. In May of 2019, Netflix released the original film 'See You Yesterday', executive produced by Spike Lee, which Felipe lensed for director Stefon Bristol. 'Nosotros' was his feature-length directorial debut. Felipe is represented worldwide by Gersh.
