Hunter was born in Nashvile, Tennessee. After his parents divorce, when he was very young, his mother, Neika, re-married John Wright, a young soldier in the US Army. Although a competitive athlete, he was accepted to Carnegie Mellon University to study acting, and graduated in 2010. After, he moved to Los Angeles, and met his wife Alicia in 2015. Alicia gave birth the couple's firs son, River, on April 24 the following year.
