Judith Rodríguez (born August 22nd, 1985) is a Dominican stage and screen actress, writer, director and producer. She studied at The National School of Dramatic Arts of Santo Domingo, and she also has a bachelor's degree in Social Communication; graduated with honors. She has been working in different theatrical and film productions since she was 16 years old. The first child of Tomás Bidó (Lawyer) and Mercedes Peréz (School Teacher). During her early years she studied Ballet and Jazz dance; and when she could not be admitted at the National School of Dance, because she was over the maximum age (15 at the time), she then decided to study drama. She is working on her film "RAFAELA", Rodríguez's original idea, in which she is leading actress. The film is expected to finish production in 2019. She is also has the lead role in films "Adopciones" (Cuban director: Rolando Díaz) and "La Pesada Vida de Juan Gil shot in Buenos Aires by dominican director Pavel Marcano. She is also co-lead actress in "Flow" (Ettore D'Alessandro). All these movies are in post-production. Rodriguez is also in post-production of her short film "El Experimento", which she wrote and directed. During 2018 she won several awards for Best Actress that include: Premios Soberanos , La Silla and Premios IRIS for her role in "Carpinteros (2017)", and Videoclip Award for her participation in the music video clip "Viaje al Infinito" of dominican singe Riccie Oriach. In Carpinteros (Woodpeckers) Rodríguez experienced another social face of the Dominican Republic, making it one of the most challenging and sensitive roles she has ever done in cinema. For this role, she has received very good critics from the International Press and received two nominations for Best Actress in the 2018 International Film Festival of Guadalajara, and 2018 International Film Festival of La Habana. Carpinteros was the Dominican entry for Best Foreign language film at the 2018 Academy Awards, GOYA and ARIEL awards. She was also the co-lead actress of the movie "COCOTE (2017)" of Nelson de Los Santos, for which she won her second Soberano Award for Best Actress in 2019. Cocote won the "Signs of Life Award" at the 2017 Locarno Film Festival. During 2018, she was awarded the Medal of Juan Bosch "A la Patria se le Sirve", for her life work and social thoughts. In 2015 she worked in the theater play "Perfectus Quorum" and "Hamlet" of of William Shakespeare, becoming the first woman to play the iconic role of Hamlet in the Dominican Republic, for which she received her second nomination for Best Actress. In 2011 she co-wrote and co-directed in New York, the short film 'Cold'; winner and official selection of various Film Festivals in Santo Domingo, Trouville and Toronto. She was nominated for Best Actress at the Casandra Awards for her work in the theatre play "La Leyenda del Comodín y sus Barbie Dolls". Rodríguez starred and directed the half-length film Te para Tres (2013); which received very good critical reception, and audience's acclaim. Judith has taught in several acting work-shop through out her career, and has also been Acting Coach for films: "Flow" and "A Ritmo de Fé".
