Anil Dubey (born December 19, 1968) is an Indian film & television director, filmmaker, actor, and writer who predominately works in the Indian film & TV industry. He has directed TV serials like Chidyaghar, Neeli Chhatri Waale, Har Shakh Par Ullu Baitha Hai, Beechwale Bapu Dekh Raha Hai, Khatmal-e-Ishq, Krishna-Kanhaiya, Lapataganj, and Ek Tha Chandar Ek Thi Sudha. His journey on television began as a director with his debut, Saboot, a TV series, in 1998, which aired on Star Plus. As a film director, Hotel A Mystery, To Paain, Jio Bachcho, and Bandoo Boxer were made in his direction. He has worked as an assistant director with Shekhar Kapoor for the 1994 Hindi film Bandit Queen and Jag Mundra for the film, Monsoon in 2001. Two of his short films, Kalakaar and Trupti, were directed by him. He has also done a few documentaries for Doordarshan. As a writer, he has worked for TV series such as Zamana Badal Gaya (Doordarshan), Chhoti Si Baat, Apni Khushian Apne Gham, Pradhan Mantri, Chacha Chaudhary, and Hum Hai Aapke. He began his career as a corporate filmmaker; he later ventured into making short films and also worked as a writer for his films. Anil has been associated with theater for almost three decades, and he has worked with many noted directors like B.V. Karanth, Bansi Kaul, Robin Das, Alakhnandan, Alok Chatterjee, Jayant Deshmukh, and Prashant Khirwadkar. He has experience of working as a creative and technical director for the films such as Jay Maa Ambe Bhawani, Shadow of Othello, and a Marathi film, Ramat Ravan. He has been associated with the Bhopal-based 'Dost' theatre group as a founding member, secretary and served as the vice-president of the theatre group. He was born on December 19, 1968 in MP's Jabalpur to Dr. Radhe Shyam Dubey and Dr. Lata Dubey. He has spent his early days in Bhopal and holds a degree in Arts. Anil Dubey has conducted various actions and production-oriented workshops for government organizations and public bodies, including Nehru Yuva Kendra (Ministry Of Human Resource) and Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, and the Young Women's Christian Association. Dubey has bagged Dada Saheb Phalke Film Foundation Award 2017 for Chidiyaghar. He was nominated for SAB TV Ke Anokhe Award in the Best comedy director category five times, while he was nominated for Indian Television Academy Awards in the same category four times.
