Agustín Cruz is a queer Chicano filmmaker in Los Angeles. He makes experimental films and documentaries between classes at Los Angeles City College. While volunteering at Outfest in 2010, Cruz made an acquaintance who introduced him to filmmaker Michael Simon. After the 2010 festival, Cruz went to work on Simon's independent romantic comedy, The Love Patient, as a P.A. He also appeared as an extra on Q. Allan Brocka's film Eating Out: Drama Camp. Cruz's influences include New Queer Cinema, New Maricón Cinema, and Chicana/o film and television greats like Moctesuma Esparza, Gregory Nava, Edward James Olmos, Luis Valdez, and Tanya Saracho.
