Tom started making short films in his early teens and his recent short films have won awards and screened at festivals around the world. The Easy Bit is his first feature. Why Tom made The Easy Bit: I'm often asked how I came to make this documentary because it's a subject that people often haven't thought about before, let alone heard anyone talk about. The answer is very simple. I've lived it. The film The Easy Bit comprises of six men talking about their experiences of infertility - they speak for me and every other man that has been, or is going through fertility treatment. My wife and I spent 12 years trying to conceive a child and it is honestly the most traumatic experience of my life. We were very fortunate in that we did eventually have a daughter but during the time we were going through treatment I felt very alone and misunderstood. I searched for information and advice for men but there was nothing. I realised I could help by making this film. I always knew it would help other men which has been proven by reactions to screenings. What I didn't expect is that this film could fundamentally change the way the fertility industry treats men. I truly believe that this film can and will affect great change and help men get the support they need.
