Shumin Ma

MA Shumin was born in China, raised on the Lower East Side of New York City, and deeply inspired as a filmmaker and artist in Paris, France. She studied Film and Television at Syracuse University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the City University of Hong Kong. Beginning her career as an assistant editor at independent film production companies in New York City and San Francisco, she went on to work as Co-Producer and Reporter of two weekly 30-minute programs at Radio TV Hong Kong. In addition to her feature-length documentary filmmaking, MA Shumin produces short-form documentaries, environmental films, and commercials, and is seasoned in digital media production, including projects produced specifically for internet and other forms of digital media distribution. MA Shumin is dedicated to making quality films about people, culture, and society internationally.
