Born and raised in São Paulo (Brazil), with American citizenship, Gio's ancestry is a mix of Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish as well as Western Asian & African. She speaks Portuguese, English, and Spanish. At the age of twelve, she started studying theater in school. At seventeen, she got her first professional job in theater, when she performed a principal role in Blood in the Cat's Neck. Gio then began performing in independent short films. In 2013, she moved to Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and started attending CAL Arts University, where she received her BFA in Performing Arts. In 2015, she booked her first Series Regular in the show "Zé do Caixão", where she plays Denise, a young girl who dreams of becoming a famous actress, but ends up as a drug addict living on the streets. In this show, she performed with a renowned cast of Brazilian actors, including Matheus Nachtergaele, Brazil's answer to Benedict Cumberbatch. Gio has worked extensively in her home country. While living between São Paulo and Rio, she booked several guest spots for TV Globo (the largest commercial TV network in Latin America), including the shows "Os Trapalhões" (2017) where she played an angry set producer; "Malhação" (2017) - where she played a Costume Designer; "A Força do Querer" (2016) - where she was a Bohemian Friend of the protagonist; "Justiça" (2016) - as Wedja, the daughter of one of the lead roles; "Mister Brau" (2016) - acting as dancer role; and "Entre Tapas e Beijos" (2013-2014) - where she played the new girlfriend of one of the lead actors. During this time, she also performed in two feature films, "Maybe a Love Story" (2018) and "Amor sem Fronteiras" (2018), as well as a few commercial spots. Among her special skills, Gio has a passion for physically demanding performances. While graduating, she developed her knowledge of physical theater and Butoh dance, performing with renowned international artists such as Tadashi Endo (MAMU Butoh Center - Gottingen - Germany); Cia Ponte dos Ventos and Odin Teatret (Denmark); Julio Adrião (Potlatch Theater, Italy), Yael Karavan (Karavan Ensemble, Brighton U.K), John Mowat (Chapitô Theater, Portugal) and The Lucid Body House (NYC). Now based in Los Angeles since 2017, she has attended an Acting & Entertainment Studies program at UCLA Extension, and continues to pursue a film and television career.
