Caspar Muller is a film director based in the The Netherlands known for his work on The Butcher (2016) and Eye for an Eye (2018). His latest film Narcissus Revisited, a psychosexual thriller co-produced with cinematographer Darius Shu, will be out in February 2019. Caspar has a solid background in acting and was trained at The Maastricht Academy of Performing Arts. He went on to independently write, direct and produce artistic short films, characteristic for their seductive and evocative style and surrealist touch. "I want to transcend to the beauty, for everyone to embrace their inner demons and ultimately find that place in your heart that let's you connect with others." His magic realism and dissolving sense of reality of his characters shed light on moments in which desire and anxiety collide. Recurring themes are impossible and unrequited love; loyalty and trust; power and control. His tragic endings offer closure, hope and solutions to a new beginning. His short film The Butcher (2016) - recounting the story of a neglected 6-year-old boy who competes with his narcissistic mother to win the attention of her new lover - was selected for Aesthetica Short Film Festival (2017), IndieFlicks (2017), European Short Film Festival Berlin (2016), and nominated for Best Editor, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score at Bucharest ShortCut Cinefest (2017). His short film Eye for an Eye (2018) - a pulsating representation magnifying the catastrophic result of lack of communication - was selected for Calcutta International Cult Film Festival (2018) and Oniros Film Awards (2018). Caspar is currently (2018) pursuing his master's in film directing at Bournemouth Film School - Arts University Bournemouth (UK).
