Alex Miranda

Alex Miranda is a partner and director at Tractor Filmes. He began his career more than 25 years ago and in his career worked with renowned names in Brazilian cinema, among them with Fernando Meirelles. In his career he directed around 500 publicity films and over 100 music videos, as well as 7 feature length documentaries, among them "Pelada: football in the favela", which received international recognition through an honorable mention at FICTS (International Federation of Cinema Television Sportifs ). For this same work, he was the winner of the audience award at the Brapeq Brazilian Film Festival in China and selected for the São Paulo International Film Festival. Some oh his other films have already premiered at the festival previously: "Commercial", "The Rooster Noel", "Carnival in My Backyard" and "Cut Back". In 2011 he was sworn in the Cannes Lions Festival and in El Ojo de Iberoamérica. In 2014 he directed the official 2014 FIFA World Cup film, which led him to lecture at MIPCOM in 2014. Recently, Alex Miranda was awarded in New York with 2 PromaxBDA Global Excellence Awards and 2 PromaxBDA Latin America Awards in Miami for his participation in the series 4 Estradas x 4 Histórias, produced by Tractor Films for the channel Discovery Channel in partnership with the Jeep brand. In September 2016, Miranda debuts his latest film "Marginal", a co-production with Globo Filmes and GloboNews, which mirrors an unusual beauty of São Paulo, Tiête and Pinheiros margins. He is currently in production of his new documentary, a feature film about surfer Picuruta Salazar, the greatest record holder of Surf titles in Brazil with 169 Champion titles around the world.
