Johnny Veres

Johnny Randall J. Veres was born in St.Thomas, Ontario Canada, to a Hungarian father Janos and half English/half Scottish mother, Rose M. At the time of his birth Johnny already had an older brother four years older than he named Richard, and 4 years after he was gifted with a younger brother Bertalan (Barry). His family moved around South Western Ontario but settled in Woodstock where Johnny and his brothers were raised and went to school. During his high school years his parents divorced and Johnny and his brothers were raised by his hard-working Mother. After graduating from grade 13 at his high school Woodstock Collegiate he worked for a few years in local factories before heading to Hollywood, Ca. where he tried at a career as a singer in the music industry. While in L.A. he even went out for a role in the Val Kilmer starring "The Doors", but was only offered a background role in the end. After 6 months in Hollywood and enjoying the "life" he moved back to Canada and applied and attended the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario where he studied History with a focus on Canadian History. While in University Johnny's father Janos unfortunately passed away, but he had the strength and support of his brother Barry and his Mother to keep him on track. His Mother remarried a wonderful man and friend Ernie and the two adopted another sibling for Johnny, this time a sister named Jocelyn. After a few years at Western Johnny enrolled at the University of British Columbia in a visiting student capacity for a few years before returning to London, Ontario to finish his degree and earn his Honours Bachelor Degree. After he received that he continued on at Western for another two years doing the course work towards a Masters Degree in History, but that never became a reality as he was drawn back to Vancouver by the beautiful scenery, fresh air and West Coast lifestyle. Once back in Vancouver he met an Acting coach that lived in his building and it was him that suggested that Johnny get into the "biz" as he "had the look" and the natural "air" about him to entertain and attract people. His neighbor suggested that he get some head shots, an Agent and take some lessons, so Johnny decided to take the "leap" in show business and Vancouver, (Hollywood North as its called) seemed like the perfect fit to launch an acting career. Johnny started out doing background and featured acting work on such shows as iZombie, Girlfriends Guide to Divorce and Once Upon a Time before being featured as an "Ark Villager" on "the 100" for 5 episodes of Season 2 of this Sci-Fi TV show. As well over the years Johnny has performed background, featured and principal Commercial work, Special Ability gigs, and photo- double work along with several auditions, Johnny continued to contribute to the minor TV and film appearances, usually uncredited, before landing the role of a Gay Activist in the Dustin Lance Black/Gus Van Zant production of "When We Rise" (2017). Johnny continues as a working Actor in Vancouver, doing commercials and featured background work as well as any opportunities for Auditions on TV and Film.
