Writer/Director Damien Fannon was born and raised in County Galway, Ireland, but moved to Canada in 2013. In 2016, he directed a short film, Homesick, which won Best Film at the Fall 2016 Digi60 Digital Filmmakers Festival in Ottawa. It was also selected to represent Ireland in the European Short Film Festival Ottawa. In November 2017, Damien wrote/directed and produced the short film "A Bittersweet Taste" which won Best Film and Best Cinematography at the 2017 Digi60 Digital Filmmakers Festival in December 2017. Damien won Best Director and the Saw Video Spotlight award. In March, 2018, saw the completion of, Best Mates, a short film Damien wrote and directed. Best Mates has been selected by CBC as one of nine short films across Canada to compete in their Short Film Face-Off. Damien co-founded the Irish Film Festival Ottawa in 2015, and is on the board of directors.
