Born in Albi, France, Alba Maria O'Neill has dual citizenship of France and the United States. An only child, Alba was born to Sophie Curato, interpreter, and Kerry O'Neill, ship engineer, who met while living in Seville, Spain. Her mother is French (with Algeria, Tunisian and Italian ancestry) and her father is American (with Irish ancestry). She grew up mainly in Asia, with extended stays in Japan, Singapore and South Korea where she acquired her Tae Kwon Do black belt (ipoom). Her parents divorced when she was age twelve. Her father continued to work in Asia and Alba remained with her mother in France, with yearly visits payed to her grandparents and father from age 15. Alba's mother encouraged only a very classical approach to acting, which Alba did not adhere to, whereas her father was very discouraging of this career choice. This is why, until age 28, Alba limited herself to being cast only in small theatre productions. She attended Cordes-sur-Ciel Middle School and Albi's Louis Rascol High School, where she specialized in Science. She then attended a year in a competitive political science prep class (Prépa Sciences Po) at Université Jean-François Champollion. She then went on to study law at Université Toulouse Capitole in 2010, from which she graduated with a Master's degree in Criminal Science in 2015. After graduation, Alba was cast in the supporting role of Oliver Wilkin's "An Unsatisfied Man" (2015), which went on to win the SF 48 Grand Jury Prize. She studied around this time at the Grenier Théâtre under Francis Azéma and at the Tarn National Music Conservatory in lyrical singing. She went on to doing odd jobs until a complex separation in 2017, where she started working independently as a translator, interpreter, and university language teacher. Since her father's passing in December 2019, she has focused solely on her acting career, making appearances in features such as "Ma Mère Vous Adore" (2021), "Mention Particulière" (2021), as well as multiple commercials, industry films and music videos (one surpassing 13 million views on Facebook). She is now a member of an all-female hip-hop improv group and has studied in top schools such as Groundlings, Kimberly Jurgen Studio, AWA, Acting Lab Studio (Chubbuck), and more. She currently lives in France with her husband, two dogs and cat.
