Relay sprinter William Duncan "Bill" Fritz was born on August 14, 1914 in Ferry Bank, Alberta, Canada. Fritz was a member of the men's relay team that represented Canada at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany, where Fritz placed fifth in the men's 400m relay and finished fourth in the men's 4x400m relay. William went on to win a gold medal in the 4x400 yards at the 1938 British Empire Games as well as previously won a silver medal in the same event at the 1934 British Empire Games. In addition, Fritz also won a silver medal in the 440 yards at the 1938 British Empire Games and finished fourth in the same event in the 1934 British Empire Games. William died at age 81 on October 14, 1995 in London, Ontario, Canada.
