Junko Amagi was born in Hiroshima prefecture, Japan. When she was 12 years old, Junko's father committed suicide, at home on Christmas Day. And, she witnessed it. She went through some tough times, but ultimately, this led her to decide to go into comedy. She made her TV variety show debut as a comedienne in 2000. This show took her abroad, and she traveled to 13 countries in just 6 months. Junko performed the lead role of Shen Te in Bertolt Brecht's "The Good Person of Szechwan" while at university, where she majored in drama. Since then Junko has maintained a strong interest in acting. She has appeared in many period dramas, including NHK drama series and TV movies, Tempest (2011), Katsura Chizuru shinsatsu nichiroku (2010), Kaze no hate (2007), and Hana no hokori (2008).
