Horse rider Richard Gennys Fanshawe was born on June 22, 1906 in Naas, Kildare, Ireland. Fanshawe represented Great Britain in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. Fanshawe finished in 26th place in the men's three-day event, individual. Moreover, Richard and his horse Bowie Knife were part of the team that won the bronze medal in the men's three-day event, team. Fanshawe died at age 81 on April 14, 1988 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.
