Mingjie Li

Mingjie (aka MJ) was born in Kunming, China. As a bilingual actress who is fluent in Mandarin and English, Mingjie has been cast as leads in several indie films. Notably, My Heavenly City won NYC Women's Fund, and Enclosure won European Cinematography Awards Best LGBT film. Mingjie has been trained at Stella Adler Studio NY, Art of Acting Studio LA , and Deborah Kym Studio. She continuously seeks the opportunities to portrait diverse characters as a way of deepening her understanding of and increasing her empathy for human beings. Before starting her acting career, Mingjie was a researcher at New York State Psychiatric Institute, where she published research articles on mental health policies. Mingjie has a Master's degree in Public Health from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Wuhan University. During her free time, Mingjie enjoys writing, kayaking, practicing piano, and playing with her French bulldog Bubba.
