Joe Chen

Joe Chen is a director from China. Graduated from Communication University of China in Broadcast Journalism, Joe is now a second-year directing grad student Chapman University. His documentary, "Coming Back Home Together," was selected in Vision Youth Award for "Best Documentary" and Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival for "Best Student film," and screened in hundreds of universities in China. His first short film, "The Mother" was selected in the DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival, That Film Festival and Asian Film Festival of Dallas. His feature film proposal, "An Opera Boy And His Paradise," has been nominated in "2019 CFDG Young Director Support program" for "Top 10 project". With a documentary background, Joe believes that a story hides in a real world which reflects the truthful humanity and society. As a transgender gay, he devotes himself to telling stories for edging community.
