Yuechen Hao

Yuechen Hao grew up in Beijing, where she studied Electrical Engineering. Motivated by a great passion to make creative works, she gathered the courage to leave for the U.S. and become a director. To her, filmmaking is more than a career, but rather a journey to find the answers in life. And thanks to film, she is able to pose some of those unanswerable questions to the audience. The Chinese culture has a great influence on Yuechen. Since dedicating herself to filmmaking, she also found inspiration from European cinema and British literature. As she investigates women's self-consciousness, sexuality, and spirit of freedom, she brings insightful female characters to the screen.
