A Finalist of the 2021 BIPOC Writers Fellowship: Adapting Books to the Screen, La'Chris Jordan is a Los Angeles-based playwright and writer/director known for her compelling stories about black/indigenous women. In 2020, she was nominated for an Africa Movie Academy Award for her directorial debut, January 14th, which has been selected by 50+ film festivals worldwide and received 35+ award wins as well as a distribution and marketing deal from Vyre Network, a new streaming platform based in Los Angeles. A former feature writer for The Gulf News in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, La'Chris is a SAGindie Fellowship Finalist, a Second Rounder for the Sundance Episodic Lab, MACRO Episodic Lab and the Austin Film Festival. La'Chris' historical pilot Piney Ridge won The Script Lab's Screenplay Contest and Best TV Concept at the Queen Palm International Film Festival. She also received a Stowe Story Labs development grant for her feature Roses in the Water which placed in the Top 10% for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship. A Semifinalist for the Lila Acheson American Playwriting Program at Juilliard, La'Chris is the founder and content creator of BlackCinemadb.com, an online database of films from the Black and African Diaspora.
