Born and raised in upstate SC, Griffin grew up with a stutter, having difficulty saying his own name. As a child he always had a piano or guitar nearby, in his teens he decided that music was something he wanted to learn more about. He set out to take piano lessons for a few years, with the knowledge he learned from piano he taught himself to play guitar, and by ear. In his early twenties he started to write his own material. He was always drawn to movie scores and TV theme songs. It's been said numerous publications that his music would fit well in a Tim Burton film, but he enjoys writing for a variety of genres. Aside from film scoring he also incorporated Score elements into his personal works with his band Antler Hill. Griffin often dresses as a scarecrow when he is performing with Antler Hill, to raise awareness for stuttering. Griffin is also adept at sound design and dialogue editing.
