Eric O'Connell is a soundtrack composer who's exploring new opportunities in acting. He's been writing and recording music for over a decade, but in 2017, he challenged himself to compose for movies and film. His first song, "Dr. Robbins," written and recorded in less than a day, was nominated for Best Original Song in the 48-Hour Film Project in Cleveland, Ohio in July, 2017. In August, he scored his first feature length film "If I Should Die Before I Wake," which is making its way through the festival circuit. His theme song, "Knock Me Down," will appear in a documentary in called "All in Her Head" in early 2018. This empowering song, written specifically about a woman battling a horrible disease called von Hippel-Lindau (VHL), is turning heads drawing attention not only to his craft, but also to this rare, newly-discovered, tragic disease. As a result of building solid relationships collaborating with hundreds of new friends in the industry he's explored new paths which have led to multiple auditions and lead acting roles. Since October, 2017, Eric has stared in 3 out of the 4 short films for which he was cast, and was selected for the lead male role in a feature length movie in production. Notably, "Cleave" (his first lead role) received 8 out of 19 possible awards in the Cleveland 48 Hour Film Horror Project, which was also scored by Eric and his twin brother Steve. Eric continues pushing forward full steam ahead branching out into other aspects of film-making including writing, directing, producing, and editing. His latest project was well-received at the Cleveland IndieClub Meeting in November where his first short film production, "Curse of Tall: Why it Sucks to be Tall" was screened. He stays busy writing and recording music, participating in weekly acting classes, and assuming more hands-on roles in movie productions to capture emotional undertones when composing soundtracks.
