Kara Mayer Robinson is a TV and film lover with a background in psychology and journalism, and a deep passion for people. Kara grew up in suburban New York City, where she attended Broadway plays, television tapings, and cultural events. She moved to Florida to attend the University of Florida, where she graduated with honors, then returned to her roots to earn a Master of Arts at Columbia University in New York City. With an MA in Developmental Psychology, Kara became a licensed therapist and opened a private practice in New York. While spending her days helping people live a better, happier life, she also began freelance writing and was soon commissioned by magazines and newspapers including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and The Hollywood Reporter to do in-depth and down-to-earth profiles and interviews with celebrities like Spike Lee, Uma Thurman and Elisabeth Moss. In 2017, she created Really Famous, a one-to-one talk show featuring deep dives with famous actors and celebrities. While Really Famous began as a podcast, it soon expanded into a YouTube channel and series of on-stage shows in New York City and beyond, featuring venues like The Lee Strasberg Theater, Carolines on Broadway, and Sardi's. While Kara doesn't practice as a therapist anymore, she puts her skills to excellent use on Really Famous, interviewing celebrities on a more intimate level than mainstream media. Kara is passionate about getting to know her guests on a personal level. While Really Famous exists mostly in the digital world, Kara also enjoys taking her show out in the real world and facilitating live interviews, moderating panels, and hosting events.
