Nicky Mudryy

Nicky Mudryy was born in Brooklyn, New York, as a first-generation American to immigrants from Ukraine and Georgia. After the 9/11 attacks, his family moved to northeast Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which was where he spent most of his childhood. From a young age, he had a fondness for art and technology and loved to watch movies, draw cartoons, and use his computer. One day in 2006, his friend Sofie introduced him to Windows Movie Maker, a video editing software that he could use on his own computer at home. Intrigued by the creative possibilities, Nicky started making videos using his webcam and microphone, uploading them onto his newly-formed YouTube channel. It was after joining a video club at his middle school that Nicky decided to pursue a filmmaking career. After the recession hit and his family moved back to Brooklyn in 2010 for better work opportunities, Nicky started to attend Brooklyn Technical High School in 2011. As part of the school's Media major, he developed his video creation skills further and gained certifications for programs like Adobe Premiere. During this time, he also started to develop the story and characters of Inbetween, a live-action/animation hybrid series that he was passionate about making. He graduated high school in 2015 and was accepted into the School of Visual Arts B.F.A. Film program with a competitive scholarship. During his time at SVA, Nicky wrote and directed several short films while also creating proof-of-concept trailers for Inbetween. He graduated from SVA in May 2019 and moved to Austin, Texas shortly after. He plans to debut Inbetween as a short film for the festival circuit in 2020. One of his goals is to gain the support and resources necessary to create at least one season of Inbetween for a video streaming service or similar platform(s).
