Anne Evanoff was born on March 3rd in Timmins, Ontario, Canada. Her father, Dzhon Toderov Stanchev, (name changed to Evanoff at Ellis Island Entry Point) immigrated to America from Lovech, Bulgaria in 1918 and later moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and finally, Timmins, where he met his wife, Helen Homolovich Berezynski, who was of Polish/Ukrainian descent. He moved to Timmins mainly because of the rumors that the "streets were paved in gold" and found work there as a gold miner. Anne started acting on stage at a young age and was involved in many productions that won awards in the Mid-Northern Drama Competitions. She bemoaned the fact that her parents did not give her a middle name but after playing "Cleopatra" in a stage play, her director, Chester Jury, started calling her Cleo. So she adopted that name and delighted in using the acronym, ACE, on her calling card. During Anne Evanoff's secondary school years, she was a well-known member of the Timmins Drama Club directed by Chester Jury, a well respected drama coach. Anne was highly regarded for her stage presence and it is doubtful there was a play the Drama Club presented that she did not star in. She was able to project her voice - so distinct and clear - that audience members sitting in the back row of a huge auditorium could hear every word. Anne could seemingly play any role, although the more dramatic roles suited her strong and vibrant personality. Recall her playing Cleopatra on stage and it was unbelievable that a girl with red hair and freckles who looked more like Anne Shirley than Cleopatra could pull it off, but pull it off she did! Anne is just one of those natural actors. She loves the stage. She works hard at everything she does whether that be acting or ballroom dancing or playing the ukulele. Renee Levesque, North Bay, Ontario, Writer & Editor of Northern Wildlife Magazine Went all through junior high and high school with Anne Evanoff, and, even though many years have passed, there are still lasting memories of the many dramatic productions in which she was engaged. It was amazing to see how Anne could transform herself from the quiet, studious student in many of our classes into a completely different person on stage - a person who could no longer be recognized as Anne! It was a frightening talent! It is really a shame that she didn't pursue a professional career as an actor right from the start. What I would like to say is that when Anne sets her mind to do something, there is nothing that she cannot do and cannot do without excelling at it. She is warm, friendly, loves people and is tons of fun. Philip Kreiner, Author, Shizuoka City, Japan/Nominated for a Governor General's Award Anne's parents had concerns about her desire to become an actress and diverted her attention to Toronto Teachers' College. Eventually she obtained a Master's Degree in Curriculum from the University of Toronto. Her ability to adapt to different situations and settings and her ability "to get on board quickly" created many opportunities for her in the field of education. Anne was a special education teacher, a system diagnostician, administrator and an Education Officer with the Ministry of Education. Her career took her to many different countries in the world where she fed her curiosity about different cultures and customs. Whenever Anne had the opportunity, she encouraged staff and students to draw on their life experience and tune their ears to the music of language to bring to life the characters in a novel, storybook or play. Anne is grateful to be able to revisit her life as an actor now and devotes herself full time to her training and auditioning for various roles in film, tv and commercials. She also does voiceovers and narrations. Anne feels fortunate to be able to live out this second life and to have the opportunity to work with other creatives in the industry. She is also thankful to have the skills to feed her passion and like the Velveteen Rabbit - to portray real characters in a truthful way. The fun never stops! TESTIMONIALS Catherine In Episode 80 Winterbourne: A Horror Anthology Web Series - 2018 When we cast Anne Evanoff as Catherine in Winterbourne, we knew she would bring a lot to the role. And indeed, she brought Catherine to life by adding her own nuances and by taking feedback and direction very well. She was collaborative in both giving/receiving feedback on set. She was present and focussed in her role as Aunt Catherine making her performance formidable. She clearly used her insight and talent to channel Aunt Catherine into the room and onto the screen. Cameron Attard: Director & Producer Nollywood Film: 2017 - The Rubbles of Love (Molly's Love Story) Release: 2019 Anne Evanoff played her role as Joyce Polowski very well. She was there for us - no matter what - even when things got difficult. That is huge! It is worth more than a million dollars to have someone stand by you through thick and thin. That is who she is - a pillar of the family - both on and off set. Nyaradzo Jowa: Author & Executive Producer/Producer Had the honor of working with Anne recently in a movie we were in together and saw, first hand, how skilled she is as an actor. She was great to work with both on and off set. Andrew Bee: Professional Actor Had the the pleasure of working with Anne Evanoff on the feature film, Molly's Love Story. She played Joyce Polowski, one of the protagonist's in-laws. Her character was featured in several scenes and had a number of pivotal moments. Behind the camera, Anne exudes positive energy and is a pleasure to work with. She never complained in the face of any obstacles or long days - of which there were many on this production - and she always provided assistance when called upon to do so. Her talents in combination with an endlessly positive, friendly and collaborative attitude make Anne Evanoff a tremendous asset to any production, both on screen and off! Borys Shapalov: Assistant Director Anne Evanoff is a member of The Actors Studio, and The Acting Out Theatre Club in The Villages, Florida. We performed together in a short one-act play for The Philosophy Club. She is a wiz at improve, and her voice has an unmistakeable texture. As an actor, Anne has the versatility to be guileless, vile or seductive - and always memorable. Noted inherent style, wit and spontaneity in her acting, and looking forward to working with her again when she returns. Camille Likes: Director, Writer, Actor/Acting Out Theatre Club First met Anne Evanoff a few months ago in a waiting room preceding an acting class in The Villages, Florida. We immediately found that we shared a sense of humour. She is warm and engaging. In the actors' class, she was a standout, so she was invited to participate in the dramatic reading of the play: The Fat Man Sacrifice. Anne was given the lead as Blaze and she performed that role with such a sense of irony, that she completely carried the scene for the audience of well over 100. This staged radio play was well received mainly because of Anne's contribution. Peter Irwin: Director/Playwrite Anne is an experienced actor. She demonstrated her skills in different acting classes and performances and her talent was unmistakable. We were totally impressed with her ability to take on a role. She seems to have an innate understanding of whatever character she is portraying and lives out that life publicly with commitment. Don't act, react, is how we coach actors and that's what Anne automatically does. Steve Rubin: Director of Actors' Studio, The Villages, Florida
