Attended O. Perry Walker H.S. in New Orleans, where he ran 404 times for 2,347 yards with 25 touchdowns and recorded 28 receptions for 242 yards with three receiving touchdowns during his prep career. Named first-team All-District 10-4A as a junior and senior. As a senior, named honorable-mention all-state and first-team all-metro after running for 947 yards and 10 touchdowns despite being plagued by a back injury. Ran for 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns while catching 18 passes for 156 yards and a score as a junior en route to earning first-team all-state honors. Majored in homeland security.
