Carleton Prince was born in Hillsdale, Michigan, grew up in Denver, Colorado, studied physics at UCLA, earned a BA in philosophy from UC Berkeley, and worked on a master's in film at San Francisco State. He spent thirty-five years in advertising as a writer, creative director, and agency president, before turning full time to writing and producing. In addition to creating hundreds of television commercials and dozens of long-form corporate films, he has published three novels and written a number of screenplays. With his business partner, Charles "Bud" Brummel, he recently formed a production company called Hometown Movies to finance, develop, and produce feature motion pictures, episodic television, and documentaries that celebrate the resilience, self-reliance, and can-do spirit of people who live on the land in small towns, rural communities, and isolated pockets of humanity. Made by hand, inspired by life. The company's focus is on "hand-made" films that reveal the careful personal touch of their creators. Films that tell honest, accessible stories. Films that aren't afraid to explore the seeming fickleness of life and the indomitable spirit to live. Hometown: Yesterday's Gone is the first film from the new production company. It is the first of five features planned in the franchise, although additional episodes are being outlined. Beyond its own projects, Hometown Movies will also be producing other films from other creators to leverage the production infrastructure being established for the Hometown franchise.
