Matthew Jones is a filmmaker born in Palmerstown, Dublin and raised in Westmeath, Ireland. He decided to become a filmmaker when he was three years old, after being amazed by his first ever trip to the cinema. Over the following years, his passion for film bloomed, as he starting making his own animated short films, crafting homemade film sets and eventually wrote his first feature the summer he turned 13. A few years later, he started film school in Ballyfermot College of Further Education, eventually graduating with both a Degree in Cinematography and a Higher National Diploma in Film, as well as getting the opportunity to shot numerous short films on Super 16mm. Moreover, he wrote and directed the graduate film for his group, Rose (2016), which was shown to general audiences at various events in Dublin over the following year. While there, Matthew founded his own production company, Reel Palette, under which he has written and directed numerous short films, such as the passion project The Sound of Us (2017). Moreover, several of his films have been screened to the public at the much-loved Light House Cinema in Dublin.
