Nadia Nadim (born 2 January 1988) is an Afghan-Danish football player who plays as a striker for French Division 1 Féminine club Paris Saint-Germain as well as for the Danish national team. Nadim was born in Herat, and raised in Afghanistan until her father, an Afghan National Army (ANA) general, was executed by the Taliban in 2000. Her family then fled to Denmark, where she began her football career. Nadim is attending medical school at Aarhus University (remotely, during the soccer season) with the aim of becoming a surgeon when her playing days are over. Nadim is Muslim, and speaks eleven languages (Danish, English, Spanish, French, German, Persian, Dari, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and Latin). Nadim has been seen in several documentaries, portraying herself, as well as highly profiled commercials for brand such as Nike, Visa and Ericsson. Since 2019, Nadim is an official ambassador for Unesco. Afghan singer Aryana Sayeed is her aunt.
