In that capacity he spent about 8 years working as an under cover officer, setting up drug dealers and even posing as an arsonist on several cases. While working for the police he was involved in several high speed pursuits and in one chase was shot at multiple times while engaged in the pursuit. Ultimately the bad guys crashed their car, one came out with a rifle to shoot at Hickory again and was promptly shot. Hickory received numerous awards while at the police department to include the highest award, the Medal of Valor. Eventually Hickory was offered the position of Deputy United States Marshal and after extensive training at the federal law enforcement training academy he began his career serving the citizens of Southern Ohio in particular, but traveling throughout the country on assignments. While working as a deputy Marshal, Hickory was tasked with assisting the Witness Protection Program and while assigned to Witsec spent large amounts of time protecting mobsters & other members of organized crime while they appeared in court testifying or moving them throughout the country as part of the program. Many of the major mobsters of note wore Hickory's handcuffs while being moved around. The last decade of Hickory's career with the United States Marshals had him assigned to track down and apprehend the worst sex offenders in the area. Several of the cases Hickory investigated required him to travel to foreign countries to transport the fugitives back to the states to face justice. While assigned to the USMS, Hickory received the 3rd highest award given by the Department of Justice as well as 3 more medals of Valor for shootouts & major case arrests he was involved in. Since retiring in 2014, Hickory has been involved in the movie industry as an extra.
