Thiago Machado Vilela Pereira (Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, January 26, 1986) is a former Brazilian swimmer. Son of Maurício Pereira and Rose Vilela, Thiago started swimming and developing techniques with professor at the Clube dos Funcionários of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), beginning to stand out at the age of twelve. He is the greatest medalist of all time in the Pan American Games, former world record holder for the 200 meters medley in a short pool and Olympic medalist in London 2012.
