Nivi Canela is a singer, actress, writer, and burlesque performer. She was born in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in Union City, NJ. She attended Columbia University and NYU on scholarships. In 2019, Canela wrote and performed the one-woman musical, "Daddy Issues: An Open Letter to Junot Diaz, My Father, and other Recovering Dominican Man-Whores." She has performed off-Broadway at the Provincetown Playhouse, the Jerry Orbach Theater, and HERE Arts Center.
