American actor Buddy Delgado was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His mother, Nilsa Griffith, is a school teacher originally from Santurce, Puerto Rico. His father, Buford Griffith III is also an educator originally from Dayton, Ohio. He is of Puerto Rican and Black descent. Buddy grew up in Arlington, Texas where he began to act in school plays in High School and competing in the UIL One-Act Play Competition and the National August Wilson Monologue Competition where he was a state finalist in his junior and senior year in high school. He attends Oakwood University, where he co-founded the university's first theater company along with helping to establish a concentration in performance for the school's English department.
