Hailing from Cochiti Pueblo, Dominic was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico and received his formal education at the Institute of American Indian Arts, where he majored in two-dimensional arts. Arquero received his bachelor's degree in visual arts with a minor in political science at the University of Art and Design, and later became an art instructor at schools in Santa Fe and the District of Columbia. He has participated in many art shows as well as special art exhibitions in Colorado, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, California, Arizona, and throughout New Mexico. He has received many top awards since 1975 and has been included in various art publications. Arquero serves as board member, president, and co-chair on such prestigious organizations as the Santa Fe Council for the Arts and the Native American Artist Association, Incorporated.
