Anis Hamdoun is a Syrian-German director, writer and acting mentor, studying under the mentorship of his grandfather Farhan Bulbul at the Theatre Labour Group in Homs-Syria. Growing up in the theatre art Family, where his parents were active in Bulbul's theatre group drove his passion for Drama writing and directing. Serving as his grandfather, Farhan Bulbul's long term assistant and enabler then as the head of one of the oldest theatre groups in the Arab world. In the Syrian Revolution, he was shot by a mortar attack, got severely injured and lost his eye. After arriving in Germany, he developed his artistic career by winning the Nachtkritik magazine theatre prize with "The Trip" that he wrote and directed for Osnabrueck national theatre. Soon after, he moved to Berlin and taught at the University of Arts Berlin and worked as a director and playwright at many German theatres. Fulfilling his passion for drama, he started writing, directing and producing films in the capital City Berlin. He directed his second documentary film and first short film in collaboration with Ethnological museum in Berlin. His latest film, "Chekhov", that he wrote and directed based on a true story, is coming soon.
