Shianne Yang

Shianne Yang is a young female filmmaker raised in Taiwan/US, based in Los Angeles. Born in Kansas, a dream was born with her. The dream to create a film with her soon-to-be best friend, Liat Benezra, whom she meets in the vibrant halls of the sublevel at CalArts. That dream is Lisa and Liza. Shianne is passionate about taking inspiration from all aspects of life and incorporating such into her films. Having moved between the U.S and Taiwan all her life she is a chameleon in embracing change and fluidity. She has made several short films throughout her time at CalArts dealing with identity, self-discovery, and familial relationships, pulling inspiration from the past and the undiscovered. As a first-generation Asian American, she hopes to encapsulate her experience between different languages, cultures, and people, bridging the two worlds she grew up with into one.
