Husain was born on March 14th, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas, a Master of Science degree from the University of Phoenix, and a doctoral student working on his dissertation for a Doctorate in Management and Organizational Leadership. Husain is a member of the Phi Beta Sigma, Inc., and Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society. He spent most of his youth growing up abroad in Central America (Panama) and Europe (Germany) as a result of growing up in a military family. His exposure in the United States to several comic con events led to meeting actors, writers, filmmakers, and other creators who shared their passions about developing great comics and movies that eventually sparked his interest in becoming a film producer. Husain is the son of Daniel Roussel-Cartagena, a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Army, and Beverly Ann Roussel a former model, dance instructor, and performer who participated overseas in several plays and musicals, and a civil servant retired from the United States Department of Defense. He is the grandnephew of the Fort Worth, Texas W.E. Scott Theatre and Shakespeare in the Park stage actor, the late Maurice Marion Moore, Sr. Husain is the brother of poet Juaquin (Jake) Omar Roussel, the author of Through These Eyes and Time is Slipping Away. His brother has been published in several forums that include, The Scandinavian Blues Association publication Jefferson Blues Magazine, Reflections of Light, The National Library of Poetry, Hispanic Magazine, and presented with the Editor's Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry. Husain is a passionate marathon runner, and a fan of topics with a focus on history and science. He is a cosplayer who regularly attends Wizard World Comic Cons and A-Kon (Anime) conventions to interview both actors and attendees. He is the co-host of a science fiction blog site and podcast covering different topics related to movies, comics, and novels involving genres of horror, martial arts, supernatural, science fiction, and action.
