The titular sorting plant is an emergency department in one of Warsaw's hospitals. The name has a rather cynical connotation. Here, patients are sorted into more or less in need of help by assigning them different codes: red, yellow and green. Working here is stressful, exhausting and morally questionable. The decision to give priority to a given person has something of divine judgment about it. The main character is an experienced doctor who has to play the role of the master of life and death during murderously long shifts. How does this position affect the human psyche? Does this type of power corrupt?
