The all-American boy Colton Underwood, hailing from a small town in Indiana and a devout Catholic family, has made it big. From outside he has a perfect life, he's a star NFL athlete, young, rich, successful, handsome and an object of desire for millions of women as "The Bachelor". Underneath, he's breaking at the seams desperately clinging to a lie. After things come to a boil and he has a psychotic break and attempts suicide, he knows he's spiraled to the bottom. He leaves his LA life and moves back home deciding he can no longer live that lie, and now he must confront himself and the reality he has buried deep inside for all his life, the realization that he's gay. With the advice and mentorship of fellow gay athlete Gus Kenworthy, notable other gay athletes, and various members of the queer community, he must come clean to his family, friends, community, and ultimately the world in attempt to finally free himself of the heavy burden that almost crushed him, and try to finally find his own happiness and forgiveness of other's who he's hurt with his lies.
