The true story of Mark Dempster and his journey to rock bottom as an alcoholic and drug addict. Born into poverty in a family of drinkers in one of the poorest areas of Glasgow, Marks descent into addiction is almost inevitable. Shaped by his surroundings, Mark's ambitions are driven by the role models he goes up with - so he dreams of travelling the world - but not in search of sea and sand, Mark is looking for the next high and the best drugs to smuggle back to the UK. As his efforts are repeatedly thwarted and he heads towards oblivion, he is finally faced with the ultimate choice - face death or find a way back to life.
