Investigative journalist Madeline Magellan is the kind of journalist that generally sticks her nose in where it isn't wanted. While writing a story about the murder of a famous artist, she happens across a quiet but brilliant man named Jonathan Creek, who makes a living inventing magic tricks for Adam Klaus. Adam is a very famous magician, but Jonathan is the real genius behind Adam's illusions. Madeline (Maddy) and Jonathan team up to solve the artist's murder, then team up again (with some reluctance from Jonathan) to solve near-impossible cases. Maddy gradually falls in love with Jonathan, but being a shy person, he doesn't show if he knows about her feelings for him--but he loves to solve the tricky mysteries that she brings for his mind to solve.

In one episode of series 4 Carla's head is made into a blow-up doll. This is seen in a sex shop that Jonathan goes into, and next to it on the shelf is a video and you can see bare breasts of the actresses.

In one episode of series 3 episode 4 a man and woman writhe around in bed, not too explicit.

in one episode of series 3 A drunk man is taken into a bedroom by a prostitute, they start kissing and she takes off his shirt. He is chained to the bed, and the scene cuts away. They are seen naked in bed the next morning but no nudity.

In one episode of series 4, a man goes to talk to a prostitute. They do not have sex, he is only questioning her. She later talks about a man who came to see her, and there is a flashback to when they are having sex, but nothing is seen, only from the waist up. We see the man's bare chest while he thrusts. Scene only lasts for a few seconds, is very brief.

In the same episode, Jonathan finds on a camera footage of a woman from the head up, and she is seen moaning and writhing, it is implied to be sexual. However, later on they find out this is not the case.
