Andrea San Vicente is a modern, intelligent young lawyer with a passion for justice which compels her to defend those who can't defend themselves. That same passion will lead her to her past, about which she knows nothing. She lives in a house in the private section of Mexico City's middle class with her uncle Anselmo and aunt Zulema, her younger sister Gina, and her cousin Magda. Zulema has told Andrea and Gina that their parents, Enrique and Alicia, died in an accident (this might not be the whole truth) and that the girls should be thankful they had relatives to take them in and educate them. This makes Andrea the main source for money in the family, since her uncle Anselmo has had diabetes for years and hasn't been able to work. Andrea falls in love with Ramiro, a young man of better economic position. They are about to marry when they confront many obstacles, including opposition from Ramiro's father Samuel and lies and intrigues from Ramiro's ex-girlfriend Sofia. Andrea and Ramiro finally overcome all the obstacles and marry, but during their honeymoon, Ramiro dies suddenly, leaving Andrea in dark loneliness. The young widow now confronts a destiny she never expected. She takes refuges in her work and her studies, since she is working on her Master's degree in psychology. Not only has she buried Ramiro, but all her possibilities to love have gone with him.....or so she thinks. Two men of distinct character will come into her life: Mauricio Rodriguez and Eduardo Rivadeneira. But only one of them will be her destiny.
