At the outpost of the Tenginsky regiment, fate brought together five young officers: Captain Rajewski, camera junker Nikolai Annensky, a duelist, a gambler and a wonderful swordsman Alexander Shulenin, a young officer Fyodor Chistyakov and lieutenant Vladimir Baumgarten exiled to the Caucasus for Duel Golitsyn's murder.
