Girls Behind Bars (2008)

Documentary series of 10 episodes (60 min) filmed over a year in Scotland's only women's prison HM Prison Cornton Vale, which reveals an intimate and often shocking portrait of jail life. Ten hour of close-up following of the lives of some of the 450 prisoners and staff. Between 1995 and 2010 the women's prison population in England and Wales more than doubled-with over 4,000 women held in prison.
