Laps (2011)

LAPS is the life altering tale of one man's epic struggle with weight, and the old demons that threaten the new life he is building for himself. Season one of LAPS was something special, on a personal level, for all of those involved with the project. It wasn't just a web series - it was life changing. Series creator Chad Santiago Diez had grown tired of making shorts that never saw the light of day. He approached actor Art Hall about a serious role requiring a serious commitment. The role was for an overweight man willing to drop a lot of weight. Art was looking to make a change as well. It takes a significant amount of dedication, and tons of trust to bet other people's time and effort on your ability to lose 60 pounds. With literally no budget for camera equipment rentals we turned to an iPhone and shot the entire series on that. It would have been easy to put it off - easy to say we lacked the equipment we needed to make a series - but we did it anyway.
