What is a person ready to go to save his own life - to betray the Motherland, leave his family, kill his best friend? As punishment for his crimes, a simple Russian soldier received a gift that the leaders of the Third Reich could only dream of. Our days. Bolivian citizen - historian Harald Somerset comes to the small Russian town of Zalesk in order to find traces of the SS battalion that died here during the Great Patriotic War. Harald hires "black archaeologists" as his assistants: Viktor Starostin, nicknamed Schultz, who served time in jail for illegal sale of rare weapons, his ex-girlfriend Tatyana and her new lover, scuba diver Ivan. And it seems that soon the "black diggers" manage to get on the trail. From the bottom of the lake, they lift a 1939 tractor with two well-preserved bodies - a local resident and a German SS officer. But at this moment, the chief of the Zalesky police, Major Volochaev and the local journalist Rita, during the raid "cover" Schultz's team along with their strange find. Harald manages to escape. Major Volochaev in the tractor discovers an ingot of gold and a fragment of a blurred map, on which one can clearly read only one word - "ZONNENTAU". What is "Zonnentau" - a secret depository of Nazi gold, the last stronghold of a collapsed empire, or the only hope to correct the mistakes of the past? Now each of the heroes will try to be the first to unravel the mystery of this strange inscription. But only one person knows the truth.
