Fifty years after Benita receives aid from the sea goddess Yemayá in convincing her estranged mother-in-law to help her son flee revolutionary Cuba, her pregnant granddaughter Zamira faces a similar hurdle that affects the future of her unborn child. Agua de tu Madre is a grounded modern-day folk horror inspired by Santería and the Afro-Cuban diaspora.
